 One of the best presentation ideas that I came across is to balance the amount of persuasion and information that I give out in a presentation. It all depends on what is the end goal you are after that presentation. Very rarely has someone gone with a goal of impressing the audience and come back satisfied.

It is just like web marketing. An amateur will spend days and days creating the design and all the colorful logos for the site and minutes on what he actually writes in those pages. While pro takes days to write and may be a few hours to sprinkle it up so that it looks presentable.

The key is to be “one step ahead of them” that’s the way to capture and lead ones imagination. Roman orators known for their rhetoric, used to say it is very easy to sway a big crowd than small one. Because more number people you have and more they are in rapport with you, group dynamics will work well and the crowd mentality can be guided easily why do I mention this? Dealing with Interruptions in Presentation

If you have a disturbance like phone ringing, pace with laugh and line like “ for example when you hear a mobile ring, you remember the song or scene you have related to it which brigs back fond memories” or anything which you can contextually use at that point of time.

Or a simple look in the direction of the sound with a raised eyebrow is sufficient to make the owner feel uncomfortable and switch it off. If you bind that external and unexpected disturbance well with your story, you will have your audience in a deep trance very easily.

When you have action step - a specific outcome in your mind, literally connect your audience to your end goal by a series of steps. It might just be giving them brochures or setting up a follow up or take the order.

It is much better if you promote this idea in the middle of the presentation so they will know ahead of time what to do. If you leave this part to the concluding remarks, it will get lost and your concluding remark will also lose its posture. So promote in the middle and once and only once at the end. Scanning the Audience

Choose three to five friendly faces in the audience and maintain eye contact with them through out the presentation. Pick people in such a way that in one sweep through them and you can cover all sections of your audience while you talk. It will show your presence and command. It will be much easier for your audience to connect with you when you actually make eye contact.
 

This is particularly important when you are concluding a paragraph or a section of the presentation. Look into eyes of the people you are talking to and you will know if they have understood or not. It is a great feedback tool. Make good use of this idea and your presentation will have10 fold impact. Now obviously if you have a big number in the audience, you can do this only with a few people.
 

Presentation is just a way of persuading

Hence the same rules apply. Use the following advice and experiment. Presentation skills cannot be mastered in a day, but once mastered your presentation skills can take you to places you never even dreamt of.
